A friend of the family has passed on who used to own a music store, now his sons are selling off the remaining inventory. Thanks to my connection I get first dibs on some of the gear and this beauty caught my eye! I want to make a fair offer but I haven't a clue what the make or model is, just the non-A/F shape body and a logo on the headstock that I'm unfamiliar with. Any help would be awesome!

Looks like you're right on with that. Very nice looking 2 point oval
Lists for $3000 new and the Bobelock Fiberglass Mandolin Case is $225.

A great mandolin to have first dibs on.
It is modeled after the Lyon & Healy asymmetrical mandolin from 20's maybe?? Not sure the date but one of my favorite mandolins.

Wow thanks for the quick reply! This is pretty great info, hopefully I can get a great deal on it. Unfortunately these are the only pics I have, the mando is currently at my parents' house on the opposite coast so I haven't even seen it in person yet. Will update when I get over there next week.

Thanks again!

Wow. Let us know if for some reason you don't end up buying it ...

FWIW... I think that the builder of your mandolin is a member here. You could probably PM him if you want the specifics of your build. I believe that he recently did a "Kickstarter Project" for a book that he wrote on the history of the mandolin.

Here is the thread: http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?117263-The-Mandolin-a-history-on-Kickstarter

Best of luck to you. It looks like a very nice mandolin.

Certainly one of mine, but I will need to go back through my notebook to work out when I made it. There should be a label with a date which will help me work out where it went originally. Is it in Australia or the US?

Nice instrument. :)
Shame about the string excess cluttering the headstock. :cow:

This is the beauty of the Cafe community. Not only is it identified but you have the builder on the thread as well. How cool is that?

Hello Mr. McDonald! I do not believe there is any date listed but I will examine more closely once I get to see it in person. It's currently in the U.S. It looks incredible, can't wait to get my hands on it!
