Just purchased another what I thought could be a useful plate carving tool from Axminster Power Tools here in the UK. It`s described as a Radius Carving Tool and they did`nt mention what it was made of in thier catalogue, so when I received it and saw it was made from cast bronze I was pleasantly surprised. Even more surprising because it only cost £13.54 pence. A good quality tool and dirt cheap too. I`ve seen similar tools here on the cafe that work on the push stroke, but this one works on the pull which I think will be a little more controlable. Should be a good tool fore rough carving before reverting to normal carving planes. Just thought you`d like to see it.

This is called a Carvers spoon plane.Woodcraft sells it in their catalogue for $19.99. Item# 144822 Phone no 1-800-225-1153. They have a spoke shave with a 2" radius that looks like it would be good for hogging out the inside. They will send you a catalogue.
