I use partial capos all the time on my guitar, but I was interested to read that in Harvey Read's new books on Mandocello and octave mandolin he discusses its use on these instruments. Dos anyone else round here use a partial capo? Any recordings?

Ale Moller is amazing.
I have taken a pocket knife to various capos and experimented, but I haven't had any major epiphanies.

Ah yes, I've been looking in to the Swedish Mandola just lately. Thanks for the link.

I had major epiphanies once but penicillin took care of it.
Anyway, there used to be a capo called "Spider" that let you pick which strings to clamp down on. I don't know whether they still make it and, if so, whether they made it for larger necks.

I also experimented with a partial capo. I attach improvisation.
