Is that an OldWave? Nice instruments. What kind of pickup is that? Can we hear the instrument?

O.K., I'll bite.

What's a g.s. mini?

Nice mandolin!

It is indeed an Old Wave. Mr. Bussmann dates it around '98 if I remember correctly. I'm not sure what the external pickup was. There is also an internal pickup. I want to say it is a McIntyre, but I don't have the paperwork the previous owner gave me with that information handy. I'll add that information when I upload a sound sample in a couple weeks. I have to learn to play now..., . :)

My apologies, the traded guitar was a Taylor G.S. Mini. If the previous owner is half as happy with the trade as I am, he is happy indeed.

I'd say you got the better end of that trade.

I'm pretty sure I would have jumped at that deal as well.

Holy guacamole, you got a good deal. That person have any other fine mandolins lying around?

Enjoy your Old Wave. I've encountered only a few, but each was a fine mandolin.

Actually, this was a very nerve wracking deal for me (now, the rest of the tale). A serious accident had befallen #163 in the past and extensive repairs were performed. Those repairs had been performed by a very good specialist but I had no way of knowing that at the time of the trade. But, I loved how this mandolin sounded. So, I took a chance and made the trade and then called a luthier known on this site and made arrangements for him to check it out. I was one happy camper when, after his inspection and playing #163 a bit, he stated " you got a deal".

I was grinning from ear to ear when I left his shop. Can't seem to put this thing down now.

The previous owner was very open and up front with the mandolin's history and the repairs made.

Understatement of the week. :-)

I'd say you got the better end of that trade.

By about four-fold, I'd guess.

I feel like the guy who won the lottery and now doesn't know what to do with his money. I have this beauty and at my age I seriously doubt that I will ever be able to play up to it's abilities. I guess in a way that is a good problem to have.:)

With regard to the pickups, the external was a Bartolini (sp?).

Edit After viewing images of the McIntyre Feather online, I am pretty sure this is not the Feather model. Looks more like the M100 with the round disc that attaches to the soundboard internally.

Sound bites for mandolin coming up this weekend, but I won't be doing the instrument justice..., . Just saying, don't judge the mando by my playing
