Hi there,
I have a banjo-mandolin that's been in my possession for years and I would like to know a little bit more about and I have been unsuccessful while digging through google searches to find useful information. I know Gibson had a screwed up numbering system so I'm not sure in the number pressed into the wood is a SN or a FON (the # is 8111-19 found on the inside of the body). If anyone has any information such as an approx. build date, and est. value for the condition its in that would be much appreciated. Please see pictures below...

What is the diameter of the body? That will help determine the value to the banjo community. Also, do you have the missing piece that should be attached to that threaded rod inside?

I'm no mando-banjo expert, but I would guess it's a 1926 MB-0. You should post the pix on the BanjoHangout and you'll get all the info you need.

Indeed looks like an MB-0. Here's (http://www.earnestbanjo.com/gibson_banjo_MB-0_8297-43.htm) a link to a page showing an MB-0 with a factory order number (FON) close to yours (8297-43), also attributed to 1926.
