there's an unusual and, to me, very attractive looking mandolin up for auction on u.k. ebay:

i've asked an e-friend in the u.k. to see if he can find one and give it a test drive. looks like a lovely instrument - shame about the gimmicky name.

Adare Steve deals with instrument distributors and mfrs for his Shanna Quay shop in Co. Limerick... Maybe he knows, or could find out, something about these things....?

I don't want to sound cynical, but I'm a little suspicious of things with shamrocks in/on them when it comes to things Irish as this often suggests a cheap marketing ploy to try and woo Celticophiles... (the name k. lee also suggests this). Also a rrp of £270 seems a little on the cheap side for a hand made mandolin.
Having said that, I've never played a k lee mandolin, they may be the best thing since sliced bread......

My initial response to shamrocks is much as mancmando's: pictures of green Guiness and fake Irish theme pubs spring to mind. I'd be sceptical about this.

This isn't exactly relevant to this thread, but it's sort of related and it made me laugh...
We heard Cowboy Celtic play here in Great Falls, MT #the other night. #(If you haven't heard this group, check them out! #Their harp player is an ANGEL, and they are all top drawer musicians). #
Anyway, the guy who introduced them to the stage pronounced their name like the basketball team-- "Cowboy Seltic." # This naturally rubbed the band a bit the wrong way. #So, when their lead singer, Denise, got on stage, she said, "We sometimes like to call ourselves "Sowboy Seltic", but not usually. #I thought it sounded hilarious and I think the Emcee will forever get his pronunciations correct after this.... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

GBG--Nope. From what I hear, Will hardly ever plays in concert. Cowboy Celtic is from Turner Valley, Alberta. David Wilkie is their mandolinist and leader. Great group.
