Here's a sunburst Vega cylinderback I bought from a pawnshop through Ebay. I don't think Vega did sunbursts, so it was probably applied later.
It has figured mahogany back and sides and was made around 1920.
It's a good-sounding mando and I've been asked several times to play quieter! Perhaps just a reflection of my playing skill or lack of it...

Interesting burst Cylinderback at Gruhn's:

He's got another, plainer one too. Link (http://www.gruhn.com/photo/MF6921.jpg)
The tuners on the Gruhn 'burst one say 1925 to me...

Larry:
can you show a shot of the label? It seems to be similar to the Gruhn label and different from the earlier style, shown below. Also, what's its serial number?

Could anyone tell me what years the 'STAR' appeared on the headstock?
I've heard the ones like the bernunzio called "Coffee stain finish"

Here are photos of the one-piece mahogany back and a bad label shot; the flash reflected but you can at least see the shape of it.http://www.silphium.net/images/back.jpg
