I have been experimenting with different styles and woods of bridges for my old Kentucky m-800. However, have found the old style Brekkee I had stored away (because it never sounded good on anything else) brought the Kentucky to life with better tone and volume than anything else I tried.
I do have one problem. Probably because the Kentucky neck is set back farther than most mandolins, I cannot get the action as high as I like it. The set screws are maxed out and I need at least another 1/32 of height. So, my question is if anyone makes a custom insert for the Brekkee? I guess I may have to find a chunk of Ebony and start shaping one myself, but I sure would like to get one ready made.

It's been a while since I've experimented with a Brekke, I believe you can make larger wedges out of ebony scrap to raise the top piece. I made the top insert out of bone to try to improve tone. A small belt sander makes it quick work.

I'd recommend talking to Vern Brekke. His web site: http://www.bridgerproducts.com
