Bidding seems to be going up for this B&J Victoria reverse scroll: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381193844325?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

These are Regal-made, right? Is this mahogany or birch? Does it look like it potentially has some significant condition issues—seems a little sunken on the treble-side top and back separation with some missing binding.

Bidding is at $82 --less than a fill up on my pickup truck--a mandolin should be worth at least a tank of gas!

Those reverse scroll regals are cool.

1. Regal-made is right.
2. Back definitely looks like birch, but the sides could be mahogany.
3. Bidding's over $120, and there's a few buxx worth of work needed. Pass.

Went for almost $200. Amazing!

But for the condition, that was a desirable instrument. Nice binding. Very handsome look. Well, if it had a sound.

I have an old reverse scroll regal that is very beat up. Not playable. Bought it for less than a dollar in a garage sale years back because I thought it was pretty.

Most concerning is that tapping the unstrung body yields nothing but a clunk. It is very uninspiring. The wood is lifeless.

But I do believe a playable, nice sounding RRR would be a lot of fun.

$200 way too much
