When leaving instruments sitting out in the living room, what are acceptable levels of relative humidity? How low can the humidity get before you should be concerned?Any feedback appreciated.

Whether sitting out in the living room or in the case, wooden instruments should be kept between 40 and 50 percent relative humidity.

I generaly disagree with a set relative humidity for any environment. #I think the goal should be to provide your instrument with a stable environment. #If the average humidity where you live is 30% then let your instrument aclimatize to 30% and keep it in that range. #Same goes for 50%. #Some areas have more drastic climatic changes from season to season and require more humidity control but the idea is to keep it stable and that is easier to do by sticking with the average humidity for your area. #The average humidity where I live is about 30%. #If I were to keep it stored at 40-50% that would mean it would go through a change everytime I took it out to play.
