View Full Version : What to sell my extra wood for and where to sell it

I have nice wild grain sugar maple backs (one piece) and tops, and some extra red maple. Various tops. These are mandolin size and don't fit my new plan for violinmaking.

The fancy sugar maple has been curing for years in my shop.

Any ideas? Density is about .75 g/cc on sugar maple, and I'm limiting myself to .65 for fiddle backs and .60 for classical backs.

Thanks

...and where to sell it.

Not here, as per Forum Guidelines...

Put an ad on the classifieds--I've sold wood there in the past...

Yeah, the classifieds are good and I thought of that, I just don't know how to price it. I have no idea what I paid and that isn't really relevant! A good red spruce top I can figure out, but wild figure sugar maple is more problemmatic. I want to turn this wood into cash to send to Orcas Island for wood matching my needs better!

There ya go... ;-)

Don't base it on my prices--they are too cheap and out-dated by the rest of the market...
