If you live in the Houston or San Antonio area, you are only about 100 miles from the best 2 days of fiddling in the world IMHO. The event is inside the large Knights of Columbus hall in Hallettsville. I travel 400 miles each year for this contest, and don't really play a fiddle. Whether or not you play a fiddle, you will be inspired by great players from ages 8-80 with the likes of Texas Shorty (Jim Chancellor), Wes Westmorland, and many others.http://www.fiddlersfrolics.com/

Wish it was closer (I'm in Seattle)! There is a lot of great music there, I've heard a lot of jam and contest recordings as well as a number of those players at Weiser.

Brings back a lot of memories. Played guitar backup there. Very rigid but fun.

4 more days to wait for the enjoyment of good food, cold beer, and great music. Come with me to Hallettsville and celebrate a wonderful Texas tradition.
