I just lucked into an Eastman 504 in almost new condition. But when I looked at the label, my teeth almost fell out: year=2006 serial#=84

Could it really be the 84th Mandolin produced by them? Or the 84th MD504? Or was it the 84th in 2006?

Looking at this (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?96657-Reading-Eastman-serial-numbers) thread, they talk about numbers for 2007 covering the range of 1050-2450. So either they had a different numbering scheme in 2006, or mine is a very early production model.

Thanks for any input....Lyle

Any opinions? Could it really be Eastman Mandolin #84, or was there another numbering scheme back in 2006?

Thanks...Lyle

I have the same model, made in the same year. Mine's #38. Didn't Eastman start making 504's around 2006? Great-sounding oval-hole, though the finish on mine is brittle and chippy.

Came across a new, hand built, Yamaha guitar several years ago with the serial number #1 - sounded terrible!
