I'm sure this question has come up before, but I am relatively new to the mandolin (about a year or so). I have a Michael Kelly Dragonfly. I am interested in "graduating" to a better mandolin. I am interested in a wide nut F style, this time around. Does anyone have any recommendations for something in the $2000 range? Jim

I'm not sure if it qualifies as a true F-style or a poor copy, but I like my Breedlove Premier Series FF wich has 1 3/16" Nut Width.
The Legacy FF would also be within your price range. Don't know how they compare sound-wise though. http://www.themandolinstore.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=9596

Here is a nice Weber Bitterroot in your range.

Possibly a used Weber Gallatin F-Style, they make that in a wide-nut. You might get lucky and find one, and they usually go for somewhere in your budget range.

you might want to check with the guys at TheMandolinStore(http://www.themandolinstore.com/Scripts/default.asp), they take in trades a lot and at times get a wide nut Weber.
A used Bitterroot or Gallatin would be near your budget line.

my "local" shop did have a wide nut Gallatin F, http://caposmusicstore.com/, these folks are great to work with. check out the inventory list.

Check Gregboyds website(http://gregboyd.com/) as well, they tend to stock wide nut webers and sometimes have trades taken in.

also Sprucetreemusic http://www.sprucetreemusic.com/

i'd suggest putting a want to buy ad in the classifieds here also.

Thanks everyone. I was looking at a Weber Gallatin or a Ratliff Country Boy. Both look like they fit the bill. Although the Weber seems to be easier to find. Thanks
