This is the latest Elkhorn mandolin off the work bench. Koa with a 150 year old Redwood soundboard; man what a sound! I've got some really special woods coming in the near future so look for good things to come! Thanks for taking a look!

Nice. The headstock is especially attractive.
How about a sound clip?

The redwood top is beautiful and the binding is a perfect match. Nice combination.

Back is stunning as well.

Beautiful mandolin, Robb.

Can you be a little more descriptive about the sound?

How does this wood combo differ from the sound of a traditional spruce and maple mandolin in tone, volume, depth, projection, sustain, responsiveness and complexity of overtones?

Thanks.

Love your pictures. Yummy as usual. Especially that top and headstock. Wowser. Love that abbreviated finger rest too. You're actually kind of cruel to impose such insatiable longings... but then again, it hurts so good.

Give us a tune Robb. I'm still working on that '8 more miles to Louisville' that you played on the cocobolo mandolin a few years ago.

Beautiful!! If it sounds half as nice as it looks, someone is going to be a very happy player.

Hey All, Thanks for all the kind comments on the mandolin!! I'll try to get an mp3 together and post it so you all can hear how great this thing sounds. Thanks again!

Yet another stunning work of art you've produced Robb! I'll chime in with a request for a sound clip too. Keep up the good work!

Here's a short mp3 of the mandolin. It's always hard to know what to play to get the best sounds out of each individual instrument but here you go. Enjoy! 129166

A fine sounding instrument (and quite good playing). Which makes it excellent all around.
Very nice work, Rob.

I think Robb has crossed the line into "work of art". Quite amazing and gorgeous. This is not helping my MAS.
