Not to slight board-mates commerce, but I'm extremely happy with buying single electric guitar strings at my local non-corporate music store. It's cheap enough that you can stock up on favorites, or grab several new guages for experimentation...

Have you found any flat-wound strings in singles?

from what i see, you may have to break up some guitar sets for magnetic friendly flatwounds, I only see roundwounds in the drawer of strings in my local MS.
Ovations [bridge piezo types] could add balls to D'addario flats,[bronze wound and ground] there is a mandola set, for 5 string bottoms, the wound .015 is only in the mandolin sets.

addendum:JustStrings.com has flatwound singles for electric guitars, big guage assortment range.
