Rosewood looks Brazilian all right -- anyone familiar with Tahara-made instruments? I Google-find them as manufacturing instruments labeled "Maya" which don't get no respect on the internet, mostly...

Or you can look around and find a real Martin mandolin that will cost you the same or less after you add in the shipping.

DesertRose speaks often of Tahara-san, the head luthier at the shop where Sumi first came to fame. I have no idea if there is any sort of connection to that same shop. That name might be as common as Smith and Jones in the US. Here (https://www.google.com/search?q=tahara+site%3Amandolincafe.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8) is every message with the word "tahara" on the cafe.
