I got a five-string banjo for christmas when I was about 10. Would have been around 1975, most likely.
I think it might have been a Vega. Had an eagle on the back (like many), but I remember it was really, really nice. (I'm pretty sure it wasn't the 1976 bicentennial Martin/Vega one, though...)
I also remember not knowing what the heck to do with it, and I traded it in on Yamaha folk guitar a couple of years later.
Wish i still had it, that's for sure. (I still have the Yamaha, but it's essentially unplayable.)
But I did get an open back about a year ago. Bwwaahahhahhahaaaa!
