BTW, I simply LOVE the color and lack of 'burst. Really

Thanks guys, you are very kind. It really adds to the sweetness when other mandolin lovers take enjoyment in your own chosen passion. I am very pleased with the no 'burst finish and impressed by how evenly Don can do the staining.
It would be nice to have a Pomeroy in the mando tasting, I would like to see Don get all the positive recognition he deserves (IMHO). I would like to hear from any and all Pomeroy owners as well. We already know about 4 or 5 that are here. ROLL CALL - ROLL CALL!

Gotta tell you Neal, I was, uh, covering up the cost, and, well, maybe even the mandolin till the last possible time.
When I finally found my hiding spine and owned up, my wifey just smiled and offered to pay for it with monies she earned from teaching night school for adults.

Great pictures. I have contacted Don Paine for some quotes on some of his models and he is a very nice guy, and reasonable. I have not had the privilege of trying out one of his mandos. Any opinions from you folks who have a Pomeroy in hand. How's the sound? How does the neck feel? From pictures I've seen they look beautiful.

Good morning mando lovers,
I received my new BEAUTIFUL Pomeroy F4 on Tuesday. Sad to report that I have been very ill even before it came so I have only been able to look at the case sitting next to the dresser. I hope to spend some quality time with the new little one this weekend. I will have to say that when I opened the case up it was all that I was hoping for and I do love the coloring, yes indeed stops my ticker for a sec.
I hope to give a playing report this coming week.
Congrats sure go to the new folks getting on Don's list, great choice.

Here I am at last with my new Pomeroy F4 in living color, and living now in my grateful hansds. I wish that I could do this instrument the justice that it deserves. I am just feeling very fortunate that I am able to afford to own a work of art that gives back beautiful sounds along with it's visual beauty. Because of circumstances of late I have only been able to spend time with my new Pomeroy for the last 3 days, and I have tried to make the most of it. I just don't have gift of words JML and I am already looking forward to his Pomeroy review - of which I am sure will be all good stuff.
This mondo plays as smooth as I was hoping it would, all up the neck.(as if I were able to pull off a tune above the 7th. Everything I put my fingers on comes out clean and full of sustain, T really love that about the Pomeroy's, the wonderful sustain from all the strings. It seems like all the great makers of mandolins have the gift of their instruments having great sustain and bell like clarity with the notes pulled off the fretboards, and I am of the opinion that Don Paine is right up there with all the great buiders. I feel like I am at last pulling myself out of the same ole same ole rut and am newly inspired to try new tunes and practice more. This is my 2nd Pomeroy(A2) and think I will start sving for one of his F5 models, have to wait and see though cause with this 14 fret fretboard I get the tubby growl and volume when I want/need it.
