Finally got a gig with a new grass band playing the mandolin, and my first show is coming up this friday. I was wondering the best placement for a k&k twin spot contact mic I recently purchased. the mando is a loar on-220 I'll be running that into a k&k pure preamp the belt clip model and into a boss tu-2 tuner and into the board from there. Any tips or advice on how to dial in the sound would be greatly appreciated as I have only played mando gigs a handful of times and I had a bad experience trying to play into a sm-57 on a mic stand through a bose l-1000 tower.

Near the feet of the bridge on the tailpiece side.

As Jim said.
If you can use some sticky putty that teachers use for paper you can stick it on temporally. I find outside of the bridge feet works well too.

right by the bridge is a place to start , But..

where you place them can also be influenced by the tone you think sounds best to You.

would near the bridge feet be the metal thumbscrews or just outer parts of the bridge

right behind it attached to the Top. Its the vibrating soundboard
shaking the pickup pieces that makes the electric signal .

But dont be locked in to one place, as I say, you get a little different sound ,

with the pickup hearing a different part Of the sound Board.
