As you can see, I opted for the oval hole. David describes this as an oval hole F5, rather than an F4. Lets have another peek.

I asked David to select a good piece of quilted maple for the back. Lets zoom in:

And now lets add some binding.

And turn over again. No binding on the back yet but I think I'm going to like this.

And now the bit I love best....
But I'll keep you in suspense and tell you how good it is to work with David on a project. I wanted a dark red colour and he was happy to oblige. He isn't the kind of guy to blow his own trumpet, but his mandolins do that for him.

Beautiful mandolin! I've got David's #17 and couldn't be happier. David is phenomenal to work with and his mandos play with the best of them. I love the red! Enjoy.

Its really good to hear from all you "King Brown" owners. It would be great to gather together pics of the whole series. I know that there are some on David's website and others that have been on here. I might start a thread when I get #19 in my hands and see how many pics we can get together with a view of presenting them as a King Brown pageant.

Oh - JLP - yes I am getting an armrest. I'm getting a combined armrest-bodyrest but some custon inlay on the front.

Here is the latest pic - all strung up and nearly ready to dispatch. I'm really looking forwards to seeing this in real life - and more importantly - to play it!
