If you're looking for a new mandolin I can heartily recommend Marshall Stapleton (http://marshallstapleton.wix.com/guitars).

I wanted something that looked a bit different, with a good powerful sound, fingerboard on the wider side, built-in pickup, up-facing soundport and several other picky requirements. And that's exactly what Marshall built me, and for a very reasonable price given the evident quality.

Very nice, Mark. I like the originality of the instrument. It has very nice lines.

Also, thanks for introducing Marshall. I really like much of the stuff he has on his webpage. I've been looking for someone to build me a mandola. Marshall is up there on the list!

Thanks again, and enjoy your new mandolin!

Very nice. How does it sound?

I was looking at Marshall's site, and I love that resonator mandolin, koa with a maple fret board and padauk cover over the rez. Wow. That looks great.

Nice idea, Bill - hadn't thought of that. Will give it a go when I get a moment.

I remember asking him about the resonator. I think he said it wasn't a great success, but I can't recall why. But I agree it looks sensational!
