It was built by the Stromberg-Voisenet Company of Chicago. They became Kay.
Here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?88369-Any-information-on-this-Mandolin) is an older post about this same model.

Can you tell what year it is? or approximately? i picked it up at an antique shop for 50$ but the neck was cracked in half, so i glued it, made a trip to guitar center to get some new strings and it plays great!

If you read the thread linked above it will date it somewhere in the 20's.

If it's playable after you did the repair that's a good deal. Good luck with it.

I have been looking or one of these in decent shape at a decent price. They are certainly a distinctively shaped instrument and I would like to own one whether it sounds great or not. One would be a great wall hanger if nothing else.
