Yes it's a great looking mandolin and Paul's attention to detail is just unreal. I have had several good mandolin in my time, but it's hard to beat this one in looks and in sound, plus it plays so easy. Here are a couple more pictures. 122853122854122855122856122857

In my opinion (having played three of them) Newson mandolins are under the radar, as good as ANYTHING being made these days, at about 1/4 the price of the highest priced ones. Now if only I had the $ to buy one....

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Paul's work too. Under the radar is an under-statement because Paul is not really into marketing his work; would rather just make great instruments in his Michigan workshop. I've got a 2013 Newson A-model (varnish) that is absolutely amazing. And when you consider his A's cost just a bit more than a new Collings MT and for that you get a handmade, varnish finish A-model with James tailpiece, MOP inlay, etc., the value increases even more! He's the real deal.

I talked to Paul the other day and he is still building but he told me that some of his mandolins will be going to Gruhn Guitars in Nashville. He said that he had shipped two of his mandolins to Gruhn a few weeks ago. I check the site and yes Gruhn has them up for sale @ $ 8,500.00. The tuners are not Waverly's but Stew Mac Golden Age. They are not Varnish finish and they come with a TKL case not a Calton.

If it looks and sounds as good as my 2009 Newson F-5 they won't send it back.
