I got the latest Music in Motion catalogue yesterday and was noticing their wide array of lapel pins. I thought maybe it would be nice to think about getting violin and mandolin pins for some students, but then I noticed that they have no mandolins! Autoharps, yes, dulcimers, and even -- **sigh** -- b*njo, but no mandolins.

Anyway, I decided to pop over to eBay and see what I could find. Plenty of nice cloisonné and other pins, but this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10179&item=7307455113&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) in particular caught my eye. Most unique. Almost makes you want to have a pixie for a student just to see them play the thing. Maybe you guys have seen a miniaturized mando less than 3 inches tall before, but this quite impressed me. (It is non-functional, but the detail is still impressive.)

Just thought I'd share that before making myself my annual cup of Irish coffee later today. Happy St. Paddy's Day, everyone http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

It's the ideal mandolin for a leprechaun, as I sit listening on my deck on a grand spring morning. #

Matter of fact, I think I'll call him Paddy O'Furniture!
