I recently submitted a post about a stridente mandolin I found in a junk shop in a pretty sorry state, and asked about how to go about getting it restored..

Well I found an excellent luthier, sam skey, who restored it beautifully, and here it is!

It sounds phenomenal! It is a joy to play :)

I have named him Samwise, after the luthier, and Samwise Gamgee from Tolkein's Lord of the Rings as he is described as somewhat fat and stout, as is my little stridente :)

Here's to Samwise, may he last another 100 years!

Nice work, congratulations. Bridge looks a bit out of style though, it is a bit too wide for a bowlback. It may still do the job, but the original ones are thinner and more elegant.

I still have the original! It needs a little work, but once that's done it will be reinstated :p
