Saw this posted on Facebook. Looks interesting. It was called a 42-string guitar. To me it looks like a guitar/mandola with perpendicular strings too.

Search Pat Metheny on youtube, "Are You Going With Me" live concert in Montreal and you can hear him start the tune with this guitar. Cool!!!

I know the guy is famous and talented, but just not my cup of tea. Don't really get it. 30+ years ago, I broke up with a girlfriend, and she wrote me a nasty letter that I saved for years for some reason, don't know where it is at now, probably threw it away. One of the lines in the letter was, "when I asked you to go to the Pat Metheny concert with me, you looked like I had asked you to step before a firing squad." In a strange way, I'm proud of that and hope to have it chiseled on my tombstone someday.

Imagine tuning up... or changing strings... :(

I was thinking more along the lines of, "imagine building that thing"... I am sure it was a challenge even for a master of the craft like Linda.

Well 42 strings - I think my tiny hand would flee in terror from holding down and fretting 42 strings. thanks for sharing

"imagine tuning up or changing strings".

A real test for the ol' perfect pitch!

OK, but can you play the blues on this baby? Or something the girls can dance to?

Wow I wonder too, though the jazz Methany plays is good.

Well, with that many strings, there's a better chance that one of them will be in tune.

Well ... one of them - yes. All of them - not so much. :(
