Aloha! First time, long time here.

After seeing the Ipad app thread I thought I'd ask about similar apps for the Android OS. I know of the Amazing Slow Downer but was wondering about apps for things like tuning, music, etc.

I had great success using this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.desktopmusic.mandopro) to learn the basic notes, but I haven't found a lot else. I'm looking forward to seeing what others have come up with.

I got that app too, tangleweeds, to help my wife learn the notes on the fretboard. It has a few bugs in it, but overall it's pretty good.

tangleweeds, thanks for that suggestion! I'll give it a try.

I also found that SongBook does now have an Android version:

Not mandolin-specific, but I like Strobe Tuner and Classic Metronome pretty well. Smart Theremin is fun and Four Tracks Lite is super-simple for quick ideas.

Another alternative - I've been using gStrings for tuning. Great to always have a tuner with me.

I use Basichords, DaTuner Lite, and the Mandolin Cord Cracker (free versions).

Oh my god, this is exactly what I've been wanting to find. No more running out of lyrics half way through the second verse for me (as I did just last night - tried to salvage it by hammering through Arkansas Traveler and diving for the bar)!

EDIT: You can even sync it to Dropbox?! I LOVE THIS THING

Ok, tell me about SongBook. How does one input music? Will it import specific kinds of files, or do you use the app to find the song? It looks like a cool app, and I have access to both an Android tablet as well as an iPad.

Howdy folks,
It's been a while since I've visited here. I'm just in the process of acquiring an Android based tablet solely for the purpose of using it as a songbook. (poor old guy can't remember nuthin').
I'm wondering which Android Apps you might recommend for displaying fiddle tunes written as tablature.
Thanks in advance,
Best,
George

Thanks for this. It looks like exactly what I want. I am awaiting delivery of my tablet and will download this at the first opportunity.
Take care,
George
