I already posted a similar question in the Builder/Repair section, but maybe I should have started here...

I'm looking for a replacement bridge for my circa 1920 Gibson A. #Mine is probably not original, and in any case, I'd choose a different design. This one has the posts in the saddle, going down through the bridge. Bad idea, I think. #

Anyone know where I can get a rosewood model, with the wide knurled knobs, looking something like the original?

Thanks for the help.....

I believe 1920 may be a bit early for the adjustable bridge. I have seen a 1919 white top A3 on the web with an adjustable bridge having an aluminum top. This was in Mandolin Brothers. They had an '18 white top with a one piece bridge.

Your mandolin may have had a one piece when new. I say again ..."maybe".

Stew-mac has nice Randy wood loar style bridges, I believe a 1920 would not of had this adjustable type, but it would be a great upgrade to have and still be in keeping with period of the instrument, plus the height adjustable saddle make for easy action adjustment http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Here is an old bridge for sale on ebay. I would be curious if anyone can identify it. I would guess it goes to an A model, it looks too low for an F model. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3707502667

In setting up my Gibson A-2 ('22) and my Triggs A, the luthier used Cumberland Accoustics (Steve Smith) reproduction bridges--made of ebony. #The work well and sound very good. #Check out the website:

that thing on ebay looks like it came off of a messed up mandolin, if it's original at all.
