Very nice! Out of interest... what case will you use for that?

This may be the only OM I've ever played. Sort of want one now. . . Just a huge resonant room-filling sound! I loved it! Thanks for putting it in my hands for a few minutes Dave!

Beautiful wood, great workmanship, love the binding. Dave, I have a 22" scale octave with D'addario J72's but this is all fairly new to me. Can you tell me what strings you put on it? Thanks, Danny Gray

The D'Addario J72 set is actually a "light gauge" alto (= CGDA) mandola set, and at 0.014" -> 0.049", is rather heavy for a 22" scale octave (= GDAE) mandolin. I used the J80 set, which is a bit lighter at 0.012" -> 0.046", on this instrument. I have used the J72 set for shorter scale length octave mandolins, ca 19.75" scale length. Even on the shorter scale length instruments, I found the J72 set to be a bit taught and maybe even a bit "thumpy" for my taste. On the other hand, if you want a thumpier sound, the J72 set may be just what you need.
