I am very new to the mandolin world - after acquiring a very inexpensive used mandolin, a Johnson /Savannah /AXL, I took the plunge and spent far more than ever intended on a used Eastman 615 from Trevor at The Acoustic Music Company, UK - not a lot of choice in the UK in terms of decent specialist suppliers, so thank heavens Trevor despatches by courier very promptly and efficiently. There are no decent specialist suppliers in the area I live in and no luthiers, either.

It arrived yesterday via a really efficient courier ( was here before 8.30 am!) and I am delighted with it, even though I managed to snap the E string! Fortunately had a spare set and its all back to normal now.

Here are a few pics - one is of the serial number seen via the f- hole, would that date this mandolin to around 2007, going from the Eastman site where they give the first 4 numbers in a range for different years?

The setup and action are so easy to play and the tone of the mandolin really sweet. Looking forward to using the Schertler resocoil pickup as well, as this mandolin apparently sounds really good through an amp.
