I just got this hoss of a mandolin in the mail today!!! I haven't had much time to play it before work or take a good picture for that matter so if you're wondering about some close ups for you inlay and binding freaks out there I will provide later.

My one complaint about this mandolin so far and I don't really know if you'd classify this as a complaint it came with Martin Bluegrass mandolin strings which I'm not a fan of.

Someone tell me how to upload photos I'm such a newb I can't even add a photo of this beautiful instrument.

Looks good. Really pleased it all worked out and you've got the mandolin you were wanting.

Now how about a sound clip?

There's an Insert Image icon above the box where you enter text when you post (two in from the right).

Yea I saw that insert image icon and when I click on it and I select what I want to upload am I supposed to wait a little bit? Because usually in dialog boxes like those you'll see a upload button at the bottom right of the insert image dialog box?

I'm planning on posting a video where I demo it and give a quick review. I can say this much the 700 is a versatile mandolin.

The sandwich was delicious George. It's always a good day when you have Jimmy Johns!!

Your new mandolin looks and sounds great. I hope you enjoy it.

You may have figured out the strings by now, but just in case, new strings often stretch and go a little flat until they are settled in, which can take a few days. To help them along, tune them up to pitch and then gently stretch them one at a time (easy does it -- don't snap them) and then tune them back up to pitch. (I don't stretch the E strings because they are thin and I don't want to break them--but it works with the others). This helps them settle in faster.

You may have figured out the strings by now, but just in case, new strings often stretch and go a little flat until they are settled in, which can take a few days.

Also, a new mandolin itself can take time to settle into its new environment. For instance, a number of my mandolins have actually gone sharp in the days after I've acquired them, a byproduct I believe of taking on moisture from the relatively high humidity of South Florida.
