Got right on the phone to Elderly when I saw the note about its release here on the cafe.

Have had a few days to get into it and it is wonderful! Highly recommended! 20 compositions (no singing) about the Minnesota landscape and its people. Songs are ordered "chronologically" from glaciers, to buffalo (and hunters), to the northwoods and lumberjacks, to milltowns, to the prairies and plowman, etc.

The music is beautiful, and there are a lot of dark/heavy melodies to go with upbeat tunes. Very refined, delicate, elegant playing. A lot different from the rockin' oldtime stuff I have been listening to lately.

Peter plays mando (oval-hole) on a few tunes, and there is also lots of percussion, bowed strings, and even flute, pipes, etc.

Check it out, it's sweet!

For the record, I am a biased Minnesota native.
