Finished up these guys yesterday but didn't get pics/clips until today. Both fine instruments... though the Heberlein is certainly a few steps up the food chain vs. the 'netto. The radiused board on it makes it feel pretty modern, too.

By the way -- any idea on the mandolinetto's make? It's very familiar yet not at all decisively "made by so and so" to me. It's not one of those (obviously) later Regal makes which are a bit wider and have a dovetailed joint.

Wow Jake, that Heberlein is beautiful. I have seen a number of the violins (always nice) but this is the first mandolin I have ever seen. It sounds really nice too. I hope Jim Garber chimes in on this.

I love the Heberlein too; it looks and sounds really nice. But I'm very interested to know what the prongs or hooks on that tailpiece look like. I really need a tailpiece like that for a project; that design is just perfect. I'm saving the pictures, so hopefully someone can make a metal part like that for me to add my own ebony.

The Heberlein is quite lovely, Jake, and sounds great. Nice job.

Those are both lovely instruments Jake, but that Heberlein is definitely something else!

That Herberlein might be the prettiest mandolin I've seen. Thanks for posting it! Danny

Danny: I hear it, I was star-struck when the owner pulled it out of the case. It's very classy.

Bratsche: Fuzzy photo enclosed -- but just a note that it'd be easy enough to make the metal part of the tailpiece from a thin sheet of brass/steel/whatever. The cover is then screwed onto it from the rear as I recall.

I can chime in here but really have nothing to add. It is a nice looking mandolin for sure but I don't have many clues as to who made it. I do have some German catalog scans and can see if there is anything there.
