Just downloaded this free Android tuner app. It looks like it might come in handy when I don't have any other options!

If you play mandolin as well as other string instruments, this is a good one.

Several cafe members have recommended "Cleartune (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CC8QFjAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%2Fcl eartune-chromatic-tuner%2Fid286799607%3Fmt%3D8&ei=0qMHU8-wGIzioASl3IKICw&usg=AFQjCNFMI-LC2o_SCG4cqaS536BNXAHLBg&sig2=vKpExL9oVO0raH6Gd5fjUA&bvm=bv.61725948,d.cGU)" and I have also found it to be very reliable and better than clip-on tuners in relatively quiet environments.

+1 for cleartune. However it is so high sensibel that it can be used only at quiet enviroment. (i.e.at home, or in a silent corner)

I have tune up on my iPhone. Seems to work good and multiple display options.
