Now here's something you don't see every day: a vintage Gibson pineapple tailpiece on eBay.

Martin, that is pretty cool. How would one repair the broken string tabs? Is that a common problem on these old Gibson tailpieces?

I suppose someone with metalworking skills could pop some new tabs onto that base, although it looks like the base has a fair amount of corrosion going on. Or you could try fitting the cover onto a modern base, as the ad suggests.

Probably wouldn't be too difficult to braze / solder on some tabs. The torch heat might discolor the lower tailpiece a bit, some of which might be buffed out. The pineapple would cover all that up however.

These are cool. $50 seems like a bargain right now. I wonder where the price will go?

To repair that, the easiest solution is to drill and tap a new hole and put a threaded screw into the plate.

Went for $335. More than I thought it get but not too crazy if you really want one. They don't show up too often.
