I picked up this beauty from the classifieds here.

Weber Yellowstone with a speed neck, and scalloped extension.

I have a Weber Gallatin F Wide Nut that I got a few months ago, but I just wasn't bonding with it. I think the nut is just too wide. This Yellowstone is much more comfortable, and it's a beauty!!

Turtle,
Welcome to the Weber family, once again. I too have a great Yellowstone with the speed neck. I would suggest you put 4 or 5 coats of tung oil on the neck. This will give it protection from drying out. After each coat dries (I give mine 24 hours) rub the neck with some 0000 steel wool and then repeat till all the coats are done. I usually put a new coat on every Christmas day.

Badger, It is when the finish is removed from the back of the neck (the white part in the photo). It makes for smooth playing.

George makes a god observation, a thin coat of oil finish will help.
