I just picked up a Petersen OM from the classifieds. It's my first since having a Flatiron in the mid-80's. I'm pretty impressed with it for the money. Off to work on John Mcgann's book.

BTW, It has koa back and sides, top ivoroid bound, ebony board and an interesting koa tailpiece that accepts ball-end strings.

I just bought a Flatiron Octave/Zouk from a fellow Cafe member. What a sound! And the thing is beautiful with birdseye maple back and sides. Anybody have a good source on a strap?

You can use a guitar strap. If there is no strap pin other than the end pin, you can tie it to the headstock under the strings...or there's a little leather doo-hickey that you can get that slides under there and attaches to itself with a button that you can attach a strap to.

Yep, I think I will just get a second strap button installed and find a nice leather strap. I use a shoe string on my Flatiron 1N mandolin and thought about doing something similar with the OM, but I think I will go ahead with the strap button and some sort of strap. Thanks!

Button and flat, guitar-type strap are good.
