Very cool! I see you're in Wales too. Nice to see bluegrass in the valleys!
Nice Klimt print behind you too ;)

congrats! When we start to play, our kids leave as soon as they can. Or turn up the TV. At least you got him in the same room and on the same song!

Thanks for sharing these videos, Darren. I am hopeful that my boys will be picking songs with me some day. For now it would be a mandolin, French horn, trumpet trio. I am thinking Church Street Blues and Arkansas Traveler might work with that combo!

Cool stuff! He started playing bluegrass and got a haircut. Was there any relation with the two?

Some awesome videos there. That Wayfaring Stranger is remarkable -- sounds totally pro all the way -- good picking by both of you!

Tried a tenor banjo this weekend - now he's really in deep.

My son came home from college yesterday (and really just for a day, he's already off to Europe) and we played a few tunes. Was a nice thing to do sitting out in the backyard. He mainly plays fiddle (but didn't bring one), so had to do with a guitar here - especially since I had to try out my new Collings!

Roland -- lovely, and I like the pacing. We have a guy in our group who just can't seem to get the rest of us to play "Star Above the Garter" fast enough because it's a slide. He starts it fast, keeps pushing the pace and gets really angry if we don't play it at ludicrous speed. I feel like sending your version over to him!

In our pub session, it (or other slides/single jigs) end up being played a bit snappier, too, but I really like this particular tune at a very relaxed pace, makes it a really sweet tune.

Darren: Don't worry about your son's hair... it will eventually grow out again.
