Got these pictures from Don today.
He'll keep it for about a week to let the stain settle, add the tail piece and pick guard, string it up, then I should have it shortly after.
What do you guys (and gals) think?

I really want him to take his time, I'm in no hurry.
It'll leave his shop when HE'S completely satisfied, and that's fine with me.
What do you think of the stain w/o any 'burst?

LKN2MYIS, That looks absolutely beautiful. Love the coloring, and nice to not see a burst for a change.
Don just sent me the 1st picture of my #65 - F4 that he has just started on now that your #64 is being finished up.
I will hold off posting so the sun may shine brightly on your new Pomeroy, it deserves to be aired like a fine wine.

Wow, the finish is wonderful. And the black stripe in the binding sets it off. Very yummy indeed. I want one too.

Funny you should say that. I almost went with an all white
binding.
But then, the pick guard will be evony with white trim, so I thought that the w-b-w binding would bring it all together.

That's very nice...I like the color w/out the burst. How much? There's no way in Hades I'd be able to afford one right now, but I'm just curious.

Drop dead gorgeous! Don does terrific work. Stunning. I bet it will sound even better than it looks, if that's possible.
Congrats,
Ken

Give Don a call for a price. He'll be more than happy to discuss options and prices.
Yeah, if his phone isn't busy!!
Really nice. Just sent Don a deposit. Blackface A-2. Thanks for posting Don's work, and your reviews of it.
All right Neal!
PM me and I'll return some photos of my F5 too big to post.

I second the "All right Neal". You made a good choice and you will love the pics coming to you from Lee957.

Where is it? LKN2MYIS should have his new mandolin about now.

Don has it.
He would like to wait and play it for a week or so and then do a final tweak before it ships.
I want him to take all the time he wants - let him be REAL happy with it, because then I am sure I will be!
Tomorrow he should send me the final photos - tail piece, strung-up, pick guard.
LKN, That is a beauty. I notice Don sells a lot of F4s. Just curious why instead of the F5 model? The non-sunburst is how I'm leaning also. I think they really stand out. Did you go with any other options as far as tuning gears, nut width etc? Mike

I went with the F4 for a few reasons.
I don't play bluegrass, as a rule. My taste runs towards blues, old time, etc. Love Ry Cooder's mando playing, etc. I usually play either alone or with a guitar, so the F4 was the
design of choice. (Plus, I just love the look!)
My feeling, though, is you can play any type of music with any mandolin (within reason).
Don is a luthier, so he will build whatever model you want. It does seem that lately he has been getting a few F4 requests.
I pretty much went with his fully appointed standard (after much internal discussion, and external on this forum). I chose stain, binding, one-piece back, and pickguard.
I'm truly not in a hurry, so didn't pressure Don at all - I've tried to encourage him to ski, as Colorado is having a great ski season. Keep the builder happy, he'll be happy at work!

Very nice. Looks like a 1 peice back. Really like the back.

Yes, one piece back.
I agonized over that decision, but when I saw the pictures I felt MUCH better!

Umm, I'm in line now. #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif (but you have a point there)
Nice lookin' mando! Lee957, send me those pics!
