Here are some pics that I promised of my new Hogan mando. This guy has definitely got it and I am so blown away by his work. This mando is actually his 2nd one completed and I think the pics will speak for themselves. The sound is so Loar like it scares me and I know most people claim that "Loar" sound but I have played a few and this one is right actually has it! Plus, maple binding on a varnish finished mando for the price he has is simply unheard of!

There's your scroll builders! Notice that the binding does point downwards and it is maple.

Jeremy, that is killer! Do you have any mp3's yet? I'm sure I'm not the only one that'd like to hear it (and you).

Of course the mark you see above the bass f-hole is my first scratch on it. #I was getting a little too happy with Bush upstroke chop!

I am going to record (again) with it next weekend although it is Christian music and I am not so sure "all" of us would like to hear it. I will send you a CD Shane as soon as all of it is mixed.

That "blanket" came from one of our member's wife. #Russ Jordan, ask him about them because his wife makes them and they do have a big mando on them! #It is actually just a throw.

Just a few more of this beautiful creation beside my Gibson. #You be the judge and pay attention to the scroll shape and the recurve. #

I understand that it is fairly new, but how does it compare to your Bush?

guys, I have played that mandolin and I wanted it in a real bad way! I have played A LOT of mandolins in my day and that Hogan is hands down the best sounding and playing mandolin I have ever touched, or heard for that matter. Jeremy, you should be real proud of that thing man, I can't wait to get up with you again so I can work on you axe some more!

Jeremy is right about "the loar tone" too. That mandolin has it all!

Well I got to play the Big Boy again today. Man Jeremy's mandolin kicks some serious butt! Great tone. I always enjoy seeing jeremy and trying to steel some of his licks but when he brings the Hogan it's even better. And not to mention that Jeremy is sounding better than ever right now. He is pulling off some crazy stuff these days.

That's a cool mandolin. I'd love to hear it in person. I think there were some sound clips of either this one or another of his creations, and i remember it was very Loar-esque, dry and resonant. Good for you, enjoy!

There was a sound clip. I "think" it's in the Post a picture section somewhere. Not sure though. And yeh, It's a great mandolin.
