Old Vega/Wildwood Parts Banjo

Photo for Ad 179487

This is an old 11" Vega banjo that I believe started out as a tenor or plectrum. I bought it in 1974 and in 1976 had a new neck put on by Mark Platin, who was making Wildwood banjos in Arcata, California at the time. The neck is maple with an ebany fretboard. Mark also replaced the wooden stick from the base of the banjo neck with a metal rod. I believe it is a little wonder, serial number 40620 It was probably l made between 1920 and 1923. I've enjoyed playing this banjo for the past 40+ years, both clawhammer and finger picking but recently bought a couple of banjos to replace it, one open back and one resonator banjo. It has a new Fyberskin head. Frets show some ware, but no buzzing. Spikes on the 7th, 10th and 12th frets. The banjo came with a resonator It is in good shape, but I don't have all the attachment hardware anymore. Haven't used the resonator in about 40 years. Comes in a hard shell case. I'm happy to provide more pictures. I will consider reasonable offers. I'm in Oregon.
