Only a few builders out there are making a truly accurate Loar replica, everyone agrees Don MacRostie is one of them.
This mandolin (serial 284r) is 2.5 + year years old. Moderately played, excel ++ /mint--condition (a slight McClung armrest indent from leather piece on back ) I used some Novus#2 and its barely noticeable. 1-1/8 pearl nut, Red Spruce Top, Loar 23' voicing, hard curly maple 2 piece back, hide glue, hand-rubbed varnish finish, Cremona burst WBW binding on sides, gold EVO frets, Waverly Tuner w/pearl buttons and radiused fingerboard. All woods are fully baked. Ships in a newer Travelite Case.
Superb sounding F5 for bluegrass or really any style. Sensational volume..an open, woody "pop" cuts through playing chop chords or lead lines. Killer tone…vintage quick response and dryness. Tough to beat especially at a used price.
$11,900 plus ship/ins to conUS. Not looking to trade but possible exception to PWG Co. guitars, Heiden or Gilchrist A5 mandolins.
