Sunrise Pickup, Nos, Never Installed $300

Photo for Ad 143001

Up for sale is a Sunrise pickup that I bought for a Weissenborn I had years ago. I got it straight from Jim Kauffman, the builder of these amazing things. I never ended up performing with that guitar, so I never had the pickup installed. It has sat in my pickup box for at least 15 years, and it’s time to find it a new home, I think.

This is the version with an 8” wire for permanent installation. It has only been out of the plastic tube to be photographed.

If you are reading this, then you likely know what a Sunrise pickup is and how amazing it sounds. If I were playing amplified acoustic guitar these days, I’d certainly use this, but I am not, so I have no real need for it.

As Sunrise themselves puts it:

“Sunrise Pickups have for years set the standard against which all other soundhole magnetic pickups are judged. In fact, they aren't just the king of the hill among magnetic pickups"there are many players who rank Sunrise pickups above even the best soundboard and undersaddle pickups. Chances are, if you've been to a guitar concert any time in the last 25 years, you've run across at least one of these pickups, if not many. The best live sound I've ever heard came from the 1971 Martin D-28 played by the late Michael Hedges. His system? A Sunrise pickup (well, blended with a FRAP soundboard pickup). And if the endorsement of Hedges isn't enough, consider the rest of the Sunrise Pickups client list. All of them, like Hedges, are legendary for their live tone: Leo Kottke, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne, Lyle Lovett, Ry Cooder, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, Richard Thompson, and many, many more.”

I am offering this brand-new pickup for $300 plus shipping and insurance.

It will be packed very carefully, with lots of protective bubble wrap, in an oversized box.

This pickup comes with a 48-hour approval period. If, within the 48-hour period, you decide that they are not for you, simply return then to me in the same condition as I sent it out, with full insurance, and I will refund your purchase price, minus shipping to you and a 10% restocking fee. Buyer pays return shipping.

Payment can be made via wire transfer, PayPal or bank check. Personal checks are accepted for purchases within the USA, but require a period of up to 7 days to clear my bank.

If you require more photos, please feel free to contact me by email, but don’t forget to first click the “Link for more information” line on the right side of the ad, below my name. There are many detailed photos of the instrument there.
