1948 Martin 00-18

This 1948 Martin 00-18 is one of the lightest and most resonant guitars I’ve ever owned. If you’re looking for that “Americana sound” with great playability, but don’t want to spend $5k+ for an “all original” case queen, then this is your instrument. Back in the late 70’s, the instrument had two small “in grain” back cracks cleated, bridge plate repaired and a neck reset for perfect action and playability by renowned Mid-West luthier and authorized Martin factory service specialist, Bob George. Also at that time, at the owners request, and to the chagrin of all of you collectors, the guitar was oversprayed and buffed out in it’s entirety. Be as it may, it looks very clean and it definitely had zero effect on the tone. It sustains in your hand the way vintage Martin’s from this period should. The fretboard has a few dips in the ‘cowboy chord” 2nd and 3rd positions, but has no effect in the intonation or playability. As you will hear in the video, the harmonic intonation is spot on perfect up to the octave 14th fret and beyond. The original pick guard is very slightly curled up midway on the treble side of the body, but it does not impede in any way. I could glue and clamp it, but why risk damaging it. Housed in a black, early ‘60’s Gibson 00 case, it has a fresh set of D’Addario EJ-16 light gauge strings on it and is ready to sit on your lap for hours of effortless playing. I find these 00’s to be the muse to write that next song you haven’t quite been able to find as of yet. This is it! Don’t let the overspray turn you away.... this guitar sings! Feel free to ask any questions. $2,950.00 (Free shipping lower 48 states).
