Vega Cylinder + Martin 2-5 ($2,190 For Both)

I would like to sell these two mandolins together, in one deal, one shipment, although individual sales will be considered.

I bought this CYLINDER BACK VEGA from the Elderly's some 3-4 years ago, and I have been very pleased with the setup they did. Furthermore, the instrument has a fine and resonant tone which rivals any mandolin I have ever heard. Very good intonation too which is usually a trait of well crafted, accurately fretted, American made vintage mandolins such those by by Gibson, Martin, L&H and Vega of course. Any time I play on this mandolin, it bring a smile to my face.

Structurally the mandolin is in excellent condition, other than a few superficial scratches/dings to be expected on a 100 year old instrument. I also do not see any evidence of restoration, but that is a harder call for me to make. On one of the instrument trusses there is the cylinder back patent date burnt (branded) Nov.4, 1919. On the headstock tip there is a serial (?) number embossed in the Vega fashion.

The case seems to be original to the instrument, it was recently relined with felt, and it is functionally and aesthetically in a very good condition.

The MARTIN carved plates 2-15 style mandolin is in excellent condition. It was restored and set up for good playability for me by the renowned UK mandolin restorer John Maddock. The instrument has very good intonation, and the tone is rather powerful and resonant even with "soft" (Dogal Calace) strings which are presently on it.

Since the pickguard was missing and we could not locate an original one, an apt replacement was crafted out of a solid stock of good ebony. There was a minor seam separation
in the back of the mandolin tail end, about 1.5" in length, which has been well stabilized.

An older economy grade mandolin case is included.

THE PRICE FOR BOTH mandolins & cases is $2,190 US, including expedited shipping and PayPal fees.

The price for Vega &case alone is $1,440 US, the Martin & case alone is $900 US.

No mandolin returns unless it is determined that the seller had misrepresented the mandolin in a significant way.
