1945 Levin Model 320 "Aristokrat" Mandolin

Photo for Ad 138019

Some of the finest string instruments in the world were produced by the Hermann Carlson Levin Company of Gotteburg, Sweden. They produced guitars, lutes, banjos and mandolins with excellent craftsmanship, superb tone and great attention to detail.

This exquisite 2-point design first appeared in 1933 as the model 380, transitioning in 1937 to the similar model 320, renamed the "Aristokrat" model 40 in 1947.

This ultra-clean example features a select carved European spruce top with highly figured maple back and sides and a distinctive crown-shaped peg head with the Levin insignia inlaid in mother of pearl.

The extended elevated fingerboard is inlaid with pearl blocks. The body is triple bound with a double cutaway for easy access to the upper frets. The tone is sweet and lush, the action smooth. This is a rarely seen beautiful vintage mandolin. How Swede it is!
