1991 Ome Monarch 19-fret tenor banjo with B&D Silver Bell style resonator. 22” scale length; 11” rim, flathead design; 13½” resonator. Flamed maple neck, headstock and resonator back, Brazilian headstock overlay and fretboard. Polished nickel hardware, Ome’s own Silverspun Jazz tone ring, and Oettenger adjustable tailpiece. Schaller tuners with ivoroid tuning pegs. Thoroughly cleaned and new Remo renaissance head installed. Original clear head and pearloid tuning pegs included. Built mainly as a jazz banjo, it plays easily and works very well for Irish trad without the resonator, which is easily removable.
Pristine condition overall with only a couple of barely discernable scratches one might expect for a 28-year-old instrument. Comes with original HS case (probably Harptone). Anyone familiar with Ome banjos knows these are well-made, high-quality, professional-grade instruments made in Colorado. Ome advised me they no longer make the Monarch tenor and indicated the modern equivalent model is the Sweetgrass.
$1,700 USD (or CAD equivalent) plus shipping; no trades please because I’m thinning the herd. Sale restricted to Canada presently because of Brazilian rosewood issues. Personal delivery within eastern Ontario can be arranged. Additional pictures available on request.
