Gibson F-5 Fern (1928)

Photo for Ad 136932

An great-sounding bluegrass mandolin from the post-Loar era, this Gibson F-5 Fern looks and sounds amazing. Musician and author Dick Kimmel used this instrument on numerous recordings on the Copper Creek and DKC labels over the last 40 years. It has a carved spruce top and flame maple body and neck, all in a nice sunburst finish. Appointments include gold hardware (though most of the gold has worn off the Loar-style tailpiece cover), open gear tuners with pearl buttons, and pearl fern and "The Gibson" inlays in the headstock. This mandolin is in very good+ condition.
