1936 Gibson F7 Mandolin

Photo for Ad 136813

From the Golden Age of instrument making comes this beautiful florentine style mandolin from the Gibson pre-war period. The Gibson F7 was only made from 1934 until 1939. Originally brought out as a budget version of the highly prized F-5, the F-7 has 10 frets to the body and a rosewood fretboard with inlays reminiscent of the Nick Lucas model guitar.

An elegant combination of a carved spruce top and beautifully figured flame maple back & sides. The bound peghead features the script Gibson logo and fleur-des-lis decoration inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The body and fingerboard are attractively bound as well.

This fine example is completely original and in very clean condition with pickguard, metal buttoned tuners and engraved “Gibson” tailpiece present and almost no fret wear.  The sound is clear, responsive and balanced with exceptional playability.

$12,500 in its original hard case
